What is Walmart's Equate Brand?
There are close to 29,000 products under Walmart’s private label brands, with “Equate” being one of the earlier brands established. Launched between 1993-1995, Equate brand has been used for many of Walmart’s over-the-counter medications, health and wellness products, and personal care items. Since inception, it has become one of the most popular private label brands in the United States.
Equate brand products are considered generic products and are significantly less expensive than the name-brands. For example, Equate Acetaminophen is basically the same thing as Tylenol, but it costs about a third of the price.
Why are Some Equate Nasal Decongestant Products Deemed Ineffective?
The FDA held a Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee meeting in September to review the efficacy of oral phenylephrine as a nasal decongestant. Phenylephrine is the active ingredient in a lot of popular nasal decongestant products. Some Equate products contain this ingredient.
